About Us

Our goal is to raise funds to help “improve the lives of people living with a spinal cord injury in Western Australia”.

We aim to achieve this by providing much needed assistive and rehabilitative equipment to individuals in our community facing the many challenges that living with a spinal cord injury presents.

This equipment may include items such as manual or electric wheelchairs, electric bedding, standing frames and pressure relieving mattresses.

In many cases, the provision of such an item of equipment may mean the difference between living in sheltered accommodation or being able to live independently in ones’ own home.

We accept submissions from individuals and/or their families on a quarterly basis, with the board making a collective decision soon after on how the funds available for distribution will be best utilised.

The key requirements for receiving assistance from the Better Life Foundation WA are:

    1. Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
    2. Be ineligible for any form of compensation or financial redress
    3. Have a spinal cord injury as a result of trauma related event or incident
    4. Have exhausted all existing sources of government and not-for-profit funding

Since our inception in 2005 we have provided assistance to over 30 people, with $15,000 being distributed in 2011.
